Junior Authors is a company "committed to helping young writers become published authors." They publish authors between the ages of ten and seventeen. There, I edit manuscripts, checking for grammatical inaccuracies, awkward phrasing, inconsistencies, improper use of dialogue tags, and formatting issues. Here are some of the books I’ve edited:
Junior Authors
From October to December 2022, I worked as an intern at the Cincinnati Public Radio, which is Cincinnati's affiliate of NPR. Through this experience, I learned how to research topics; write headlines; write and edit accessible articles according to AP and NPR’s style guides. By shadowing reporters, marketing managers, social media experts, and website designers, I learned the in-and-outs of journalism and marketing for a non-profit media organization.
Articles:
“For the first time, Covington scores 100% on Human Rights Campaign's equality index”
“Classes resume at Riverview East Academy after lockdown where no gun is found”
“Cincinnati has new policy for city employees caught using the N-word: You're fired”
“Northside pedestrian safety committee begins to find its way”
“Everything you need to vote in the 2022 midterm elections in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana”

Short Vine Literary Journal
From January to May 2023, I was an intern and associate editor of Short Vine Literary Journal, the University of Cincinnati’s undergraduate literary journal. I set up a three-week editing course focused on developmental editing, copyediting, and setting a schedule. I also interviewed past contributors and featured their work on our social media accounts, taking inspiration from The Paris Review’s social media accounts. Lastly, I wrote an article about the journal’s evolution.
The Human Rights Quarterly
From January to August 2022, I worked as an intern editor at the Human Rights Quarterly, which publishes "current work in human rights research and policy analysis, reviews of related books, and philosophical essays probing the fundamental nature of human rights as defined by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights." As an intern, I edited manuscripts and book reviews according to the Bluebook citation guide and the Human Rights Quarterly's custom style guide.
Some of the manuscripts I edited:
“Rereading Cain and Abel: New Approaches to Enforced Disappearances” by Ariel Dulitzky
“Vulnerability and Active Religious Behavior: Christians and Crime Syndicates in Mexico” by Dennis P. Petri & Marlies Glasius
“Finding a Middle Ground? International Humanitarian Aid Organizations, Information Sharing, and the Pursuit of International Justice” by Sarah Craggs et al.
